Post- lunch, drive to Cochin. Check-in at Hotel Casino. Stay overnight at this luxury hotel. Cochin is a set on a cluster of islands and narrow peninsulas. This port city of Cochin identified as the Queen of Arabia reflects the eclecticism of Kerala at its best. Enriched with a rich past and bustling present, it has been the commercial hub of the region from very early days. Cochin is one of India's largest ports and a major naval base. Cochin consists of mainland Ernakulam, the islands of Willington, Bolgatty and Gundu in the harbor, Fort Cochin and Mattancherry on the southern peninsula, and Vypeen Island north of Fort Cochin. All of these were linked by ferry services but now the islands are connected with bridges.
The oldest church in India, 500-year-old Portuguese houses, old tiled houses built in the Chinese pagoda style, the famous Chinese fishing nets, a Jewish community, synagogues and mosques all foretell stories of the influences of the Chinese, Jews, Arabs and Europeans. The harbor city is a great resource for export products like pepper, seafood, rubber, coir mats and other matting items. Besides all this, Cochin continues to be a charming city with tranquil lagoons roofed with fluffy coconut palms and picturesque islands. The older divisions of Fort Cochin and Mattanchery are an incredible blend of medieval Portugal, Holland and an English countryside village embedded onto the tropical Malabar Coast.
