| Idukki is one of the
most nature rich areas of Kerala with its high mountains,
wooded valleys,
dams, forests, wildlife, orchids, streams, scenic points,
trekking trails, sanctuaries, hill stations and lakes.Girded
by three rivers. Girded By Three Main Rivers - Periyar, Thalayar
And Thodupuzhayar and their Tributaries, Idukki can aptly
be called ‘God's Own Hideaway’. Idukki has derived
its name from the Malayalam word - 'Idukki' meaning a narrow
gorge. The population of this district comprises mostly tribal
people.
Munnar hill station situated at the confluence of three mountain
streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, is a must visit
destination in Idduki. There are nearly 14 peaks and the Anamudi
peak towering over 2695 metres is the highest. Among the exotic
flora found in the woods and grasslands in this region is
the Neelakurinji. This flower bathes the hills in azure blue
every twelve years. Thekkady in Idukki, prides as one of the
finest wildlife reserves in India.
Idukki is home to many hill stations, which include Munnar,
Peerumedu, and Mattupetty. On your expedition to Idukki you
can behold the most exquisite sites Idukki Arch Dam, Thekkady,
Kumily, Murikkady, Pandikuzhi, Vandanmedu, Peermede, Kuttikanam
etc. that would mesmerize you offering you a retreat from
