Sandwiched between the
forest-covered Western Ghats in the east and the Arabian Sea
in the
west, Kasargod is a place where you can rejuvenate yourself
in the magic of nature’s charms. The Kasargod district
is replete with natural splendor, refreshing air, mineral
resources and primordial foliage amidst the vast expanse of
water and sky. Kasargod is branded for its coir, handloom
and tobacco industries. This exquisite isthmus is demarcated
into north and south by two rivers - the Talapadi and the
Trikaripur (near Karuvellure). Grey rocks, barren land and
serene lagoons also peep through the coconut palms along the
coastal belt, thus enhancing its exceptional beauty. Not surprisingly,
Kasargod is potentially poised to become the natural and cultural
pride of India in the area of tourism.

which falls under the Wayanad Forest Division. Adoor, Eleri,
Karudukka, Maloth, Parappa, Panathady and Muliyar are some
of the reserve forests stretching to 86.52 sq. kms. The forest
reserves spread in two ranges- Kasaragod and Kanhangad. The
prime forest produces are shegaibark, sheakoy, cardamom, canes,
fibres, etc. Wild animals like, Sambar, the fastest deer,
boars are spotted in some areas. At times, wild boars cause
panic to the cultivators of hilly areas.
A
large chunk of travelers visiting Kasargod these days, advance
straight towards Bekal, located
16 km south on National Highway 47. Blessed with nature’s
bounty, the Bekal beach
has its own historic and archeological significance. Bekal
is fast escalating as an international tourist destination.
Today it is also preferred as an ideal shooting locale by
moviemakers. Bekal is privileged to be one among the five
hot spots selected by the Government of India to be developed
into a 'Special Tourism Area'. The nearest airport to Kasargod
is at Mangalore, 50 km away. Kozhikode (Calicut) airport is
150 km south. Kasargod has a railway station which is connected
to various important towns. An effective road network connects
Kasargod to towns in Kerala and neighboring Karnataka.
