Presently the ‘cultural capital of Kerala', the city of Thrissur proudly preserves the rich history, cultural heritage and archaeological wealth that Kerala upholds. The main attraction of Thrissur is the eight day festival called Thrissur Pooram. During the festival elephants are brilliantly decked with golden caparisons and they make their way through the city amidst drumbeats, festivities and cheer. Various remarkable sites adorn the city of Thrissur like the lovely Athirapilly Waterfalls which leaves you having goose bumps! The waterfall is an 80 feet high dive from the ranges of Sholayar. Some other major spots of excursion are the Guruvayoor Temple, Ariyannoor Temple and Cheruthuruthy. The Koodalmanikyam temple, the sole temple of India enshrined by Bharatha (the brother of Lord Rama) still stands tall in this city.
